Privacy policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Harness Automation (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you visit harnessautomation.com, contact us, or use our products and services. We have designed the Software to collect as little personal information as possible. Almost all operational data the Software processes stays on your own device or server and is never transmitted to us. We do not sell your personal information, and we share it only as described below.
By using the website or the Software, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we collect the following limited categories of information:
- Contact and inquiry information — your name, email address, optional phone number, relationship to the project, inquiry topic, and the message you choose to submit through our contact form or otherwise provide when communicating with us.
- Account and transaction contact information — such as the email address you provide when you activate a license, make a purchase, or request support.
- Installation ID — a randomly generated identifier created when the Software is installed, used to associate your installation with your license and to provide support.
- Website request data — our hosting infrastructure, reverse proxy, and server may process basic request information such as IP address, date and time, requested page, referring page, browser or user-agent information, and response status. We use this information to deliver and secure the website, prevent spam and abuse, troubleshoot problems, and maintain operational logs.
- Website analytics data — we use Zoho PageSense to understand how visitors use the website. Depending on the PageSense features active at a given time, it may process page views, referring pages, query parameters, approximate location, device and browser characteristics, clicks, scrolling, and other interactions with our pages. PageSense uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to distinguish visitors, maintain sessions, measure engagement, and support website experiments.
2. Information we do not collect
The Software is built to keep your operational data on your own device or server. Specifically, we do not collect, receive, or have access to:
- The contents of any data you create, manage, or process within the Software.
- Configuration files, logs, system data, device telemetry, or usage analytics unless specifically sent by you for purposes of troubleshooting.
- Files, documents, credentials, or any data stored on your device or server.
- Network activity, location data, or browsing history.
All such data remains entirely under your control and never leaves your environment unless you choose to share it with us (for example, by sending a log file when requesting support). This description of Software data does not exclude information you intentionally provide through the website or the basic website request data described above.
We do not use third-party advertising trackers or behavioral advertising, and we do not use PageSense data for third-party ad targeting.
3. How we use the information we collect
We use the limited information described above for the following purposes:
- To respond to contact, demo, quote, partnership, and support requests; route an inquiry to the appropriate person; and follow up about the request.
- To deliver and validate your license or activation.
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- To operate, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot the website and prevent spam, abuse, or fraud.
- To understand website use, improve content and navigation, measure engagement, and test website variations.
- To send essential service communications, such as security notices, license expiration reminders, or important changes to the Software.
- To send product updates or other non-essential communications only where you have opted in, and which you may opt out of at any time.
We do not use this information for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making.
4. Legal basis for processing
Where applicable law (such as the EU/UK GDPR) requires a legal basis, we rely on:
- Performance of a contract — to provide products, licensing, and support.
- Legitimate interests — to respond to inquiries, operate and secure the website and Software, prevent abuse, maintain appropriate business records, and communicate essential service information.
- Consent — for optional communications and non-essential analytics or cookies where consent is required, which you may withdraw at any time.
- Legal obligations — when processing is necessary to comply with applicable law.
5. How we share information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We may share the limited information described above only:
- With service providers who help us operate the website and our business, such as hosting and reverse proxy providers, website analytics providers, email and SMTP delivery services, payment processors, and support providers, and only to the extent necessary to provide those services.
- When required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request.
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of Harness Automation, our users, or the public.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
6. Third-party services
We use Zoho PageSense as our website analytics and optimization provider. PageSense processes website interaction data on our behalf and uses cookies and similar technologies as described above. You can learn more in the Zoho PageSense Cookie Policy. The website and Software may also rely on other third-party services that process limited information on our behalf. Links from our website may take you to third-party sites whose privacy practices are governed by their own policies. See specific product details for third-party service integrations.
7. Data retention
We retain account contact information and an installation ID for as long as an account or license is active, and afterward only as long as reasonably necessary for support, legal obligations, dispute resolution, and enforcement of our agreements. We retain contact-form submissions and related communications for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, manage any resulting business relationship, maintain appropriate business records, and meet legal obligations. Website and security logs and website analytics data are retained for a limited period based on operational, security, troubleshooting, analytics, and account-configuration needs. When information is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymized where reasonably practicable.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures, including encrypted website transport, to protect the limited information we hold against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Because the substantial majority of Software data never leaves your device or server, you remain responsible for the security of that environment.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:
- Access the information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your information.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent for optional communications.
- Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@harnessautomation.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
California residents: We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).
10. International data transfers
We are based in the United States. If you access the website or Software from outside the United States, the limited information we collect may be processed in the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
11. Children’s privacy
The website and Software are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate or required, provide additional notice through the website, Software, or email.
